Theresa Freed joined the KSEE 24 News team as the court reporter in October 2006. She received the additional duty of weekend anchor in October 2007. Theresa strives to bring informative, balanced coverage to important local issues.

Throughout her career Theresa has been consistently recognized for excellence in print and broadcast journalism, including several awards from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and Society of Professional Journalists.

A Kansas native, before joining KSEE 24 News, Theresa worked for several years at KAKE-TV in Wichita. While at KAKE Theresa covered a host of national stories, including the capture and prosecution of the BTK serial killer Dennis Rader - an especially "creepy" experience, she says, since Rader communicated almost exclusively with KAKE and the Wichita Eagle.

Prior to reporting for KAKE, Theresa attended the University of Kansas where she earned degrees in journalism and political science. While in college, she worked as a caseworker for U.S. Senator Sam Brownback. In addition to anchoring and reporting for KU’s student television station, Theresa was also selected to be the first media convergence manager for the William Allen White School of Journalism. As media convergence manager she coordinated the news coverage efforts of the university’s student-run television, radio, and print outlets.

Outside of work, Theresa’s interests include watching movies, playing solitaire on the computer and spending time with her three adopted pets, Bert the Beagle and Trixie and Tommy the Cats.
