If you spend some time in Armando Mendez's classroom you'll see he smiles a lot. You'll also see he works closely with his students, giving them plenty of one on one attention.
"Caring understanding works with you makes you get better."
Mr. Mendez teaches 7th and 8th grade at Reyburn Middle School. His class is smaller than most. He helps these kids get through a variety of different learning challenges with a mix of focus and fun.
"Its rewarding having a kid smile for me it's a joy."
In a job that's definitely demanding, Mr. Mendez manages to find the best in himself and his students. He says its the little things that make it all worthwhile.
"Those are the parts of my job I enjoy wake up in the morning show up bright and early... Everyday I get simple rewards all day long."
Mr. Mendez splits his time between the classroom and the gym. A longtime wrestler himself, he's now head coach here.
"He's very positive helps you just ask and he'll show you exactly what to do."
"I feel hes always looking out for me and wants the best for me."
"In my class and on the wrestling mat they learn life long. Never leave them."
