"You're really too young to be drinking coffee. It'll stunt your growth! Wait 'til you're old like me and you can have caffeine."
Cindy Duzi is one of those teachers you'll never forget. And she's impossible to ignore.
"This is a very important part of the book!"
"One of my students wrote an essay about me called 'The Duzinator'. And somehow, the name got out there and that's what kids call me now. They call me Duzinator. And that's okay, I tell them I will Duzinate them if they don't do what I want them to do!"
But the Duzinator has a deep, dark secret.
"She bribes us with cupcakes!"
Ms. Duzi is legendary for the cupcake wars! Her classes compete for the best test scores...And the winners get a tasty treat.
"Aaah! They're like so delicious! They're out of this world! Nobody can compete with them!"
"All five of my classes did so well, I made cupcakes for all of them! It took me about a week and a half. But we had a cupcake contest on campus and I did win the cupcake wars, so I'm now cupcake queen! But that's it...I don't bake anything else, just cupcakes!"
The cupcakes are a testament to Ms. Duzi's sweetness. She's tough, but there's always something rewarding to look forward to.
"You have to love kids. If you don't love kids, don't be a teacher!"
So, congratulations to the Duzinator and her well-fed students. She's KSEE24's Educator of the Week.
Ms. Duzi started teaching at Sunnyside when it first opened back in 1999. She helped choose the school’s mascot and curriculum, and, of course, cupcakes.
And if you'd like to nominate someone to be our educator of the week, it's easy! Just go to our website, KSEE24.com. Then, click on community, then submission. Tell us why your choice should be educator of the week!
Every week, the winning teacher and her classroom will receive a $124 gift certificate from GW School Supply. They'll also get their names engraved on a brick on the 'Teacher and Friends of Education Honor Wall', at Fresno State's Kremen School of Education.
