It's not always easy to capture the attention of 5th and 6th graders, but Linda Montemayor does it every day.
"Mrs. Monte Mayor," as her students affectionately call her, has the not so easy task of teaching two age groups. But it seems a challenge is just something she rises to.
"Amazing. Best teacher I've had so far."
"She uses real life...Lesson is about."
Mrs. Montemayor grew up knowing that being a teacher was her calling. After college she quickly landed a job at Pinkham Elementary, that was six years ago.
"The students are wonderful...Fabulous class."
Her students say she just has a knack for making things easy to understand...No matter the subject.
"Don't give up... There's always a way to figure out a problem."
For Mrs. Montemayor connecting with students is the most important thing. She believes being a great teacher goes beyond academics.
"You look at the child as a child...Wow that year was awesome."
"That's what we celebrate...Do with their life."
