"The best! Winners! Oh, I like this class!"
And this class likes him! Wade Gilbert teaches graduate and undergraduate kinesiology classes at Fresno State. He deals with sports science and sports psychology. On this day, he's talking about competitiveness and so, he gets his class to compete, and they love it!
"They all high five!"
"I can't thank him enough for everything that he has done for me. He is a blessing to this program. He has so much pride in what he does and it's contagious."
"If you want to grow and learn, it's not about being comfortable. You have to stretch yourself and you have to take risks and you have to try things that maybe you're not willing to try on your own. And that's what a great teacher or a great coach will do, give you the confidence to try things, to push yourself."
Matt Emmett is a student from England. He decided to prolong his stay at Fresno State because of Wade Gilbert.
"I'm actually staying here now because I couldn't envision not being here and working with him. I couldn't do that. Just thankful that I met him and I know we're gonna be not just colleagues, but be friends for life now."
"We're gonna officially be starting the next kind of quarter. Like in a football game, you've got four quarters. You've finished the first quarter."
It's clear, Wade Gilbert's already won the game. How could you not love a class where you get to watch football clips? Of course, it's much more than that. It's his philosophy and his love of teaching, that makes wade a winner.
"Don't worry so much about having this linear path you think you're gonna follow. Instead, follow your passion. What are you passionate about? And you'll find your path."
