The Pepsi-co company made the change to a certain flavor of Gatorade after a number of people complained about brominated vegetable oil, which is banned in most European countries and Japan but not in the US.
Studies, on rats suggest the chemical can build up in fatty tissues and cause reproductive and behavioral problems.
B-V-O, which is only used in citrus flavors of Gatorade will be replaced with another type of additive.
