When it comes to medical tests more is not always better. Several medical societies have released lists of tests that patients do not need, like CT scans for kids with minor head injuries. Doctors say the scans expose children to radiation and are costly.
Also on the list annual pap smears for women ages 30 to 65. Tests given every three years are just as effective.
Finally, doctors say C sections should not be scheduled before 39 weeks of pregnancy. Studies show babies born before that time face an increased risk for learning disabilities and complications.
