Down Syndrome

More than 400-thousand Americans are living with Down Syndrome. It causes people to have an increased risk for certain medical conditions, such as congenital heart defects. Many of these conditions are treatable. Denise Allshouse is one of the founders of the Down Syndrome association of Central California. Denise is trying to enhance the quality of life for those touched by this condition and she's also a parent of a child with Down Syndrome.

 

Her organization is the mission of the DSACC is to enhance the quality of life for all people whose lives are touched by Down syndrome.  The goal of the organization is to provide programs that promote greater awareness of the developmental, educational and social potential of people with Down syndrome.  They envision a community that demonstrates acceptance, inclusion, and appreciation of its citizens who have Down Syndrome.
