We all know childhood obesity is a nationwide problem. But here in Fresno the problem is evident. Nearly half of all children, in town are overweight or obese.

Joining us on this national nutrition month to help get our kids back in shape are Karen Ard with the Network for a Healthy California and Sara Hamilton, who runs the Healthy Lifestyle Fitness Camp.

Childhood obesity is a big problem in Fresno, where 43% of children are overweight or obese.

The Network for a Healthy California is committed to sharing local nutrition education resources and promoting a healthy lifestyle that includes being physically active.

A great local resource is City of Fresno’s Healthy Lifestyle Fitness Camp

The camp is a free summer experience, from June 24-August 2, designed to help overweight children between the ages of 10-14 lose weight, learn about nutrition and embrace a healthier lifestyle.
Last year, the 46 participating campers lost a total of 158 pounds and 78 inches in waist circumference.
