A huge milestone for the international committee of the Red Cross. The organization is preparing to mark its 150th anniversary. The committee met for the first time on February 17th, 1863. The organization provided video of its efforts, over the years to assist millions of people around the world.
From trench warfare, during the First World War to present day conflicts, the Red Cross has helped victims of armed conflict for the past 150 years. Its president says the 150th anniversary offers an opportunity to look toward the future and focus on new challenges to humanitarian action.
