Imagine going to a party with a safari setting: surrounded by animals, bright colors and African accents. It's all happening at Fresno City College to raise money for scholarships.

The 2013 Renaissance Feast For Scholars is this weekend. Here with details is Gurdeep He'bert, the executive director for the State Center Community College Foundation.

We're also joined by Chris Morse, who's on the renaissance feast committee

Tickets are now on sale for the 9th Annual Renaissance Feast for Scholars sponsored by the State Center Community College Foundation. This year, the Queen “travels” to Africa on Saturday, March 9, 2013. Social hour begins at 6:00 p.m. The Queen calls all to feast at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $125 a person. Attire: Renaissance, African attire, or Black Tie.

One of the premier events in the Valley, the dinner is held in the Fresno City College library where the historic reference room will be transformed into a safari setting with safari animals, wonderful bright colors and African accents as well as entertainment throughout the evening. One spectacular live auction Item is a 6 Night/7 Day Safari in Kenya at the Saruni Mara Camp donated by Jill and Steve Cholewa.

Last year, Queen Elizabeth I and her court traveled to Japan, and were entertained by Taiko drums, Kendo Dojo warriors, and a koto performance. Authentic Renaissance royalty and court performers entertained guests throughout the evening, and the guests enjoyed festive social interaction, gourmet food and an exciting auction.
Through ticket sales, sponsorships, and auction proceeds, over $100,000 was raised for scholarships. The scholarships benefit students at Fresno City College, Reedley College and at the Madera, Oakhurst and Willow International centers.

Sponsorships are still available and the State Center Community College Foundation would like to acknowledge and thank the current 2013 sponsors to date.
