Tabacco

You've probably heard by now that the Central Valley isn't making the grade when it comes to reducing tobacco use. Every year the American Lung Association in California releases a report card grading cities and counties on local tobacco control policies. The highest grade we received was a "c." Melanie Ruvalcaba, the impact program manager with the American Lung Association, said according to the state of tobacco control 2013 report, the Central Valley is showing mixed results in working to reduce tobacco use. There's good news for the city of Firebaugh, once again received the top grade in the central valley with an overall grade of a "c." Parlier made significant advances & raised its "f" to a "d," by adopting a strong tobacco retail license ordinance. Fresno & Bakersfield both received "f;" highlighting the need for local officials to do more to protect Central Valley residents from tobacco-related death and disease.
