Valentine’s Day Woes for Colombians

Valentine's Day in the US is huge business for flower growers in Colombia. Flower farms, in Colombia export nearly 450-million flowers for Valentine's Day, mostly to the US market.

About 12 percent of Colombia's total flower sales come from Valentine's Day alone. But due to taxes and inflation in the country it made it impossible for some companies to make a profit, so they had to fold.
