Tulare County District Attorney Phil Cline will launch a Justice Run: 5k race/1-mile walk on Saturday, Oct. 22, as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Registration is at 7 a.m. at Mooney Grove Park in Visalia, and the events begin at 8 a.m. The registration fee is $25 if paid by Oct. 14 or $30 day of event. Same-day registrants may not receive an event T-shirt.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Family Services of Tulare County and the Central California Family Crisis Center, the two primary organizations that provide shelter and other services to victims of domestic violence in Tulare County.

“Domestic violence shatters lives and is more prevalent than most people realize,” Cline noted. “Batterers come from all walks of life and the violence hurts everyone in the family. We all need to be informed and diligent if we are going to make a difference, and that is what this event is about.”

A Law Enforcement Challenge will take place also, with the winning agency earning the right to display the plaque for the next year.

Partner agencies, such as CASA, Family Services and Kaweah Delta Medical Center will have informational booth displays at the park, and the District Attorney’s Office will provide information on their victim/witness support services.

Registration forms are available online at www.da-tulareco.org or by calling the Victim/Witness Assistance Program of the District Attorney’s Office at 636-5471.

Completed forms and checks payable to Family Services of Tulare County - Justice Run should be mailed to DA Victim/Witness Program Justice Run, 221 S. Mooney Blvd. Rm. 264, Visalia, CA 93291.
