Run For Hope
A local non-profit organization named the Visalia Rescue Mission and the Central Valley Roadrunners have teamed to organize the “Run for Hope” on November 10, 2102. The Run For Hope will consist of a 10k race, 2 mile race, and 2 mile walk. This event promotes community health and fitness; with the proceeds to benefit the Visalia Rescue Mission. Run For Hope will be held at Cutler Park in Visalia, with the race course utilizing the St. John’s River Trail for all three events. The top 3 male and female finishers will receive awards broken down by standard 5 year age brackets. Race direction will be provided by Pro Race Group of Fresno. Chip timing will be provided by Sole 2 Soul Sports. T-shirts are guaranteed to pre-registered participants, and post-race refreshments and on-course water stations will be provided. About Visalia Rescue Mission: The Visalia Rescue Mission is a local non-profit organization. We serve the local community by providing a homeless shelter for men, women and children; we sleep on average 120 people each night and serve three meals a day; 365 days a year. We are currently serving approximately 515 meals each day; over 190,000 meals in 2011! Additionally, we operate a nine month recovery program that includes a mentoring program, life-skill training as well as a job internship programs. We rely heavily on volunteers from our local communities to support our work within a hurting sector of our society. We are funded entirely by donations from local churches, businesses and individuals. The Visalia Rescue Mission owns and operates Rescued Treasures Thrift Store on Mooney Blvd. and Simply Chic Boutique on Main Street, in Visalia, CA. All proceeds from these outstanding stores directly benefit the ministry of the Mission. The Mission also has a Feed the Hungry Farm, Gym, Food & Clothing Distribution Center, as well as a 4-plex transitional housing unit and Oval Park revamp in conjunction with the City of Visalia.
