Fresno Gumyo Taiko, a Japanese drumming group, is hosting its 25th Anniversary Concert in Royce Hall at Fresno High School. The concert will feature TAIKOPROJECT: a world renowned theatrical and high energy ensemble of premiere drummers. They have performed at the Academy Awards, the Grammys and on The Voice. Clovis Heiwa Taiko will also be joining us for a night of community bonding through the art of taiko. Tickets are $15 with general seating and can be purchased by e-mailing Kathy Hamada at firstname.lastname@example.org or check our website at http://fresnogumyotaiko.org for more information.
Fresno Gumyo Taiko, a non-profit organization, continues to teach the art of Japanese drumming and culture to approximately 30 members, including a children’s group. Performances include local schools, churches, charity and cultural functions in several counties throughout the San Joaquin Valley. As a community outreach, presentations are given to local schools educating children about the history of taiko and how it has evolved in North America. We seek to introduce more people to this aspect of the Japanese culture to promote increased awareness and understanding. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used towards ongoing drum and equipment maintenance and related performance expenses.
