On Friday, February 1 at 11:00 am, community residents and elected officials will break ground on a 1.75 acre park in the Kings County community of Home Garden. The park is scheduled to be completed in Fall 2014.
The community park will have numerous features for residents of all ages. The park includes a basketball court, soccer field, splash pad, children’s playground and a walking path. There will also be arbors and picnic areas.
“We are very excited about the new community park coming to Home Garden,” said Eugene (Bo) Patterson, president of the Home Garden Community Services District. “The park will be a great addition for our residents, and will give local youth a safe place to play throughout the year.”
The Home Garden Community Services District (HGCSD) received a grant from the California Department of Parks and Recreation’s Proposition 84. The CSD selected Community Services Employment Training (CSET) as the general contractor for the park project. CSET will oversee all aspects of the park design, construction and installation.
Home Garden youth will have an opportunity to be involved with the park construction through CSET’s Sequoia Community Corps. Additionally, local youth can become involved with the Corps’ Department of Recycling and complete their diploma through CSET’s John Muir Charter School.
The community ground breaking will take place on Friday, February 1 at 11:00 am. Guests should park at Gardenside Elementary School, 9615 Temple Dr., Hanford. Anyone wishing to attend should RSVP to Judy Winston at (559) 582-4503 or homegardencommunitydistrict@yahoo.com.
