The Latina Leadership Network of the College of Sequoias, Office of the President of the College of Sequoia's, Tulare County Office of Education & Tulare County Board of Supervisor's are co-sponsoring the 2nd Annual Latino Youth Leadership Academy for 7th & 8th graders. Our goal is to make a positive difference by introducing higher educated professionals to our Latino youth. Our event will consist of mentor-workshop leaders, Tulare County, Chairman of the Tulare County Board of Supervisor’s, Phil Cox will be one of our community leaders opening our LYLA event. Dr. Henry Cisneros, dentist, Dr. Robert Utrecht, COS Dean, scientist, Rolando Gonzales, COS instructor, architecture, COS instructor, Robert Vasquez, COS, English instructor, Richard Arenas, artist, sculpture, Juan Arzola English, COS instructor, Juan Guerrero, Visalia Unified School & Board President will be speaking. Joaquin Murrillo, Srgt. Army National Guard, COS Math Engineering & Science Achievement students will be included. Marcy Huerta, Coordinator, Mini Core, (teacher prep. Program,) Encarnacion Ruiz, Director of admissions, UC Merced & Frankie Escobar Jr., Visalia Unified School District will be conducting a workshop. Our Latino students will be introduced to an on-line career assessment workshop. A motivation speaker from Homeboy Goes to Harvard Production, UC Berkley, Ca, Daniel Mora will be our main speaker.
