On KSEE 24 News at Noon veterinarian Dr. Cheryl Waterhouse talked about outdoor pet safety and answered viewer questions.
Dr. Waterhouse suggests the following tips to keep your pets safe outside.
- If you must use snail bait in your garden, use a brand that is less toxic to pets, such as Sluggo.
- Don't let your pets go into the tall weeds. Because of the spring rains, foxtails are out in full force. These nasty weeds sneak into dogs ears, noses and other places and can be costly to remove and even fatal.
- Don't use cocoa bean much in your garden if you have dogs. Cocoa, or chocolate, can be toxic if eaten.
- Consider which plants may be toxic when choosing shrubs for your yard. Sago palms and oleanders are among the worst.
