Clinical Dermatologist Joins Visalia Medical Clinic Staff
Story Updated: Oct 27, 2011
Visalia Medical Clinic has added clinical dermatologist Laine Koch, MD, to its staff.
Dr. Koch moved to Hanford in June with her husband and, after delivering their first baby, she began looking for a work opportunity.
“I had heard about Visalia Medical Clinic and it came highly recommended,” Dr. Koch recalled. “The clinic offers a lot of flexibility and great resources to be able to run the kind of clinic I want to run.”
Dr. Koch’s practice will focus on diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer and chronic skin diseases such as psoriasis, eczema and severe acne, she explained.
“Some dermatology practices may focus more on cosmetic concerns, but my practice will address primarily skin diseases,” she said. “I also really want my practice to be a partnership with my patients, where we work together to find the best solution. What works best for one may not be right for another. It is important to tailor treatments to meet each patient’s specific needs.”
Dr. Koch served her internship in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters in Norfolk, VA, before completing her residency in dermatology at Eastern Virginia Medical School, also in Norfolk, VA. She has special interests in pediatric dermatology and dermatopathology. She has studied dermatopathology at Tufts Medical Center/Caris Life Sciences in Boston in addition to having practiced dermatology there.
Dr. Koch, an avid jogger and baker, is “enjoying the sun and the friendly people” and appreciates the slower pace of the Valley.
“Boston was intense! I’m enjoying this kinder, gentler area,” Dr. Koch added.
