Johannesburg - Some 15,000 crocodiles have escaped from a farm in South Africa's far north following heavy rains and flooding in the region.
The crocodiles, according to a report by local daily Beeld, sprung from the Rakwena Crocodile Farm after the owners were forced to open the gates to ward off a storm surge.
At least 7,500 are still on the run after several had been rounded up.
"There used to be only a few crocodiles in the Limpopo River," Zane Langman, the son-in-law of Johan Boshoff, who owns Rakwena told The Telegraph. "Now there are a lot."
The surrounding Limpopo Province has been recently hit by floods that have reportedly killed 10 people displacing more.
