Fresno County's new animal control provider is being more closely examined. Just over a month after they took over, the community is coming together to lend a helping hand.
Falling temperatures raised concerns that outdoor kennels were leaving animals out in the cold. Monday, people lined up to donate blankets, space heaters, and other pet goods to help our furry friends.
County officials and animal experts have said all along there would be growing pains. They had little time to act after a split with the SPCA and last minute falling out with City Hall.
Monday, County Supervisor Henry Perea said he has no regrets about holding course with Liberty. The group's willingness to work with other animal rescue organizations is seen as an improvement over the SPCA.
Despite over a month of negotiations, Fresno city leaders still have not finalized a contract extension with the SPCA. Supervisor Perea indicated City Hall may be looking to move back towards collaborating with the county and Liberty Animal Control.
