At around 4:00 p.m. Monday, deputies received calls from neighbors saying they heard gunfire coming from the 38,000 block of Road 64. When deputies arrived, they found the body of a Hispanic man who had been shot. He was in front of a large marijuana grow. Investigators say more than 300 plants are in the garden.
“The legalities are still being investigated as to whether or not this is in conformity with a legal marijuana grow,” explained Sgt. Gary Hunt.
Deputies are still looking for a suspect. They do not have a description at this time. Neighbors in the area say there have been several drive by shootings in front of this marijuana grow in the past.
Hunt said their investigation is far from over, “We have a violent crimes unit investigating the homicide and assisting them with the marijuana part of the investigation is the STEP team.”
