Bullets Fired At Car Kill Mother and Father, Two Children Survive

A callous killer sprayed a broadside of bullets at a vehicle on a New Orleans highway Saturday morning, killing two adults - but miraculously missing a baby and four-year-old traveling in the car's backseat.

The tykes, however, apparently watched their parents die in front of them in the fusillade of bullets that riddled their vehicle on a New Orleans roadway.

Police in the poverty-stricken New Orleans nabe of Avondale identified the dead as city residents Willie Odom, 22, and Shawna Girod, 19, according to The Times Picayune.

The children, Odom's baby son and Girod's four-year-old daughter, extraordinarily were unharmed in the brutal 1 a.m. attack on Highway 90.

"Multiple bullet casings line the highway," Glen Boyd, a civilian spokesman for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office told The Times Picayune of New Orleans.

Boyd reportedly added that there are no suspects or a motive at this time.

A Sheriff's Deputy who spoke with MailOnline said that the two, fortunate children were found in the backseat of the vehicle when police arrived on the scene.

Authorities discovered a green, two-door Honda Accord in tall grass, just off the highway, with a cadre of bullet holes dotting its frame, The Times Picayune is reporting.
