On December 3, 2012, at approximately 2054 hours, Officers of the Hanford Police Department were dispatched to the area of Wal-Mart regarding a theft that just occurred. It was reported that the subjects were leaving in a black Honda, which was eventually stopped in the 1300 block of N. Douty Street.
Officers subsequently determined that Michael and Michelle Marbry came here from Clovis, along with their 3 children (ages 5,7,11) to steal from Wal-Mart. Michael Marbry loaded up $700 in merchandise in bags, including a computer, and then left the store. Upon being contacted by loss prevention, he fled to his vehicle, where his wife and 3 children were waiting.
Loss prevention chased the vehicle, which was driven by Michael Marbry, through the streets of Hanford, during which time the suspect vehicle ran several stop signs/lights, trying to get away from loss prevention. This continued until an Officer was able to catch up to the suspect vehicle in the 1300 block of north Douty and initiate a traffic stop. Marbry yielded and was found to be extremely intoxicated. His wife, who was sober, had no explanation as to why she allowed her intoxicated husband to drive her and the children around.
Michael Marbry was arrested for a no bail warrant out of Fresno County, Commercial Burglary, 3 counts of felony child endangerment and DUI. Michelle Marbry was arrested for 3 counts of felony child endangerment. The three children were turned over to CPS.
