In China there's a motorway blocked by an entire house.
Luo Baogen (some reports give his name as Zhang Ling) and his wife refused to let the Chinese government demolish their home in the Zhejiang province to make way for a road, claiming the compensation package they were offered wasn't enough to cover the costs of rebuilding a new house.
So authorities just built the road anyway, leaving apartments on either side of the couple's intact to prevent the whole building collapsing.
