Dog Survives Being Shot in Face, Left on Road in Garbage Bag

January 8, 2013 Updated Jan 8, 2013 at 1:15 PM PDT

An animal rescue worker in Conroe, Texas, made a gruesome discovery over the weekend when she was called to tend to an injured three-year-old mixed-breed dog.

Tami Augustyn found that the poor animal had been shot in the face and shoulder and then tied to a roadside fence in a garbage bag, left to die.

Although the dog, since christened Buck, was covered in blood, he was still alive and is expected to live, but he has suffered damage, which might be permanent, to his eyes. He may also have suffered a loss of hearing and brain damage.
