Texas cops are searching for a psycho who tortured and nearly killed a dog by yanking her tongue out — and taping her snout shut with electrical tape.

The poor pooch’s tongue was so swollen it looked like a freakish flap when a shocked passersby spotted her wandering on a Texas country road and called for help.

Now vets treating the three-year-old mixed pug they’ve named Hope may have to amputate part of her tongue — if she survives. “I see a lot of horrific stuff, I have never seen anything to this magnitude,” said Karen Kessler, animal control supervisor for the Parker County Sheriff’s Department.

The alarm was sounded Monday by Melanie LaBrake, who was reunited with the dog after cops on horseback spent three hours searching through the brush for the frightened pooch.

“She doesn’t even look like the same dog,” LaBrake, 39, of
Weatherford, Tex., said as she petted Hope. “Do you remember me?”

Dr. Kevin Buchanan at the Bowie Drive Animal Hospital said Hope’s tongue was left exposed for more than 24 hours. As a result, Hope arrived at the hospital feverish, dehydrated — and unable to eat, drink or pant from the damage done to her tongue.

The vets gave her fluids and pain medication and more than 100 stitches, Buchanan said. But Hope is far from healed.
