The Project Rescue Cat Haven in Dunlap will remain closed until further notice after the death of an intern Wednesday.

A lion at the big cat sanctuary killed 24 year old Dianna Hanson of Washington state. Hanson had been interning at the Cat Haven for the past two months.

Fresno sheriff's deputies found Hanson critically injured inside the lion enclosure. The 4-year old male African lion named Cous Cous was still near her. Deputies shot and killed the lion to try and save Hanson's life, but she died soon after.

Hanson's father says she was living her dream and loved working with the animals.

Project survival will remain closed until further notice.
