Ex-NFL Cheerleader Who Admitted to Sex With Underage Student Opens Up About Relationship

October 12, 2012 Updated Oct 12, 2012 at 9:08 AM PDT

The ex-NFL cheerleader turned teacher who admitted having sex with one of her students this week claimed she has not been on a first real date with him yet.

Former Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader Sarah Jones has spoken out for the first time about her controversial relationship with the now-18-year-old, just a day after her high school sweetheart called her a 'conniving liar' and 'scum'.

Jones, who finally confessed this week to having sex with her then-17-year-old student as part of a plea deal, admitted she’s looking forward to the couple’s first real date.

The 27-year-old Dixie Heights High School English teacher spoke to The Daily and revealed her young lover had been suffering from anxiety attacks due to the publicity their relationship is receiving.

Speaking yesterday, Jones said: 'We still haven’t been on our first date yet. My parents are against our relationship. But my parents are against everything at the moment.'

The former teacher and her student are due to appear on NBC's Today show and Dateline about a relationship which was exposed last year but was denied until recently.

She has now admitted the relationship began in February 2011 when the boy was 17, and said they had sex, she sent him sexually explicit text messages and lied about the relationship to police.

Despite walking out of court hand-in-hand with the student, Jones admitted it had been 'the year from hell' but said they had no plans to walk down the aisle any time soon, rebutting her ex-husband's belief they were planning on getting engaged.
