A family is pleading with the public for information after a 13-year-old girl vanished from her bedroom during the night.
Kiley Hegger was last seen asleep in her bedroom 11 p.m. on Monday at the family's ground-level apartment in a gated community in South Charlotte, North Carolina, her mother said.
Fifteen minutes after saying goodnight to their daughter in her bedroom, the Heggers heard a strange noise from her room and when they checked on her, she was gone.
Her mother, Lindsay Hegger, said they found a window open with a screen knocked out, as well as the teenager's purse, wallet and mobile phone.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said initial investigations suggested the girl ran away and are treating it as a missing persons case, but her family said she would not have left of her own will.
