A Fresno County man is behind bars, charged with the repeated sexual assault of a 9 year old girl.
Fresno County sheriff's investigators say 26 year old James Michael Rogoff was arrested Tuesday following an investigation that began on Monday when the 9 year old girl told her parents she had been repeatedly assaulted by Rogoff since April.
Officials say the girl told them Rogoff, who lives nearby in the 1500 block of North Dickenson Avenue, showed up at her bedroom window on Monday and threatened to assault her again. The child's father then confronted Rogoff, who then fled.
Responding deputies searched the area for Rogoff but he was not located. During the subsequent investigation, Rogoff’s three children, ages 6, 4, and 1, were removed from his house by Child Protective Services.
Rogoff was arrested the next day when he attempted to break into his own home and the victim's father held him down until authorities arrived to make the arrest.
Rogoff was arrested on several counts each of sexual assault of a child under 10 years of age, lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 with force, and burglary. He was later booked into the Fresno County Jail.
