Fresno, Madera County DUI Enforcement Operation Nets More than 130 Arrests Over Holidays

The Winter Holiday Anti-DUI crackdown continues to result in a significant number of DUI arrests from local routine traffic enforcement and special AVOID the 21 DUI deployments during the past several days throughout Fresno and Madera Counties.

From 12:01 AM Friday December 14, 2012 through Midnight Monday December 31, 2012 officers representing 21 county law enforcement agencies have arrested 137** individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In 2011 132 DUI arrests were reported as occurring during the same holiday time period.

Multiple DUI Driver’s License Checkpoints, Multi Agency DUI Task Force operations and local Roving DUI patrols were part of this region-wide crackdown during the 19 day Winter Holiday Campaign. DUI arrest data collection will continue through midnight, Tuesday, January 1, 2013.

The AVOID the 21 Taskforce will again deploy DUI operations and Patrols during Super Bowl Sunday February 2, 2013. Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
