Fresno Police rescue a man who had been kidnapped and bound with duct tape. Police found the victim and two suspects near Kings Canyon Road and Dewitt Avenue during a traffic stop, Tuesday night.
“The victim was extremely terrified, thanked the officers and said he just felt completely relieved when he realized the Fresno Police Department had initiated the traffic stop,” said Fresno Police Department Lt. Anthony Martinez.
Police say the two suspects are twin brothers, Ulysses and Daniel Carrillo. Investigators say they are 24-year-old Bulldog gang members. The victim is Daniel Carrillo's roommate. Fresno police say they made the discovery when officers pulled over a red SUV for speeding.
“It was at that point that the call gets a little bit strange,” explained Martinez.
The officers noticed the back window was broken out and there were two people in the back of the SUV. Martinez said, “One of the subjects was bound in duct tape. His hands, legs and torso were all tied restricting him from movement and the other subject appeared to be holding the victim down.”
The victim told police the brothers kidnapped him and he tried to escape by kicking the back window open. But the Carrillos had a completely different story.
“They tried to explain to police that they were trying to help the victim,” explained Martinez.
After investigating, police found the kidnapping took place at the home Daniel Carrillo shared with the victim, on South Sierra Vista.
“The suspects attacked the victim, forced him down and were able to duct tape him and removed him from the location, placed him in the back of the SUV and were driving away from the victim's residence,” said Martinez.
Police later found several guns at the home, one of which was stolen. Police say the traffic stop may have saved the victim's life.
“It's really unknown what the suspects were ultimately going to be doing with the victim. We don't know if this was the beginning of a robbery or the beginning of a murder,” said Carrillo.
