Fresno State seemed unaffected by Pat Hills termination Sunday night.

Alexandra Zentner heard about it before she even set foot on campus

"I think he was fighting an uphill battle this year and it's sad to see him go," Zentner said.

Not everyone on campus shared her sentiment. Anthony snow said it's about time, "I was excited, I think he needs a fresh start," he added, "I think he hit his peak here and couldn't do anything more for us."

The news spread quickly on campus through texts and phone calls. Within minutes, most people had already heard about it.

Morgan Biczo said, "It's sad even though I didn't know him and it's sad for the players but change is good sometimes."

Sean Lawson said, "It's unfortunate, I really liked him...he did a lot for this program."

The students and this community needed a team to rally around but this season wasn't good enough. The Bulldogs went 4 and 9 and the number of empty seats hit record levels.

"The fans were just upset game after game, I went to all of the home games and it was sad to see half the stands empty," Zentner said.

The program's poor performance ultimately cost Pat Hill his job but the students have hope for next season.

"Like before, we'll rally together and find a new coach that will do amazing things," Zentner said.
