Three people are dead after a hit-and-run collision on I-5 near Highway 198.

It happened this morning, just before 8.

CHP says a big rig heading north was attempting to change lanes, which caused a Chevy Suburban carrying 6 people to swerve and lose control.

The suburban ended up in the southbound lanes, and was struck by a Toyota 4-Runner.

Three people in the Suburban died.

The other three suffered major injuries, as did the 4 people in the 4-Runner.

The people in the Suburban are from Perris, California.

The group in the 4-Runner is from Oakland.

But the big-rig kept going. And officers are still looking for it.

Anyone with information is urged to call CHP at 935-2093.
