A Canadian man has claimed he was stabbed in the back by doctors, who apparently did not notice that he had a three-inch knife blade lodged in his body, which he lived with for three years.
Billy McNeely, 32, of Fort Good Hope in the Northwest Territory, made the shocking discovery this week when he felt the tip of a metal blade with his finger as he touched the scar.
He said he was stabbed five times in a fight stemming from an arm wrestling match three years ago.
Mr McNeely told CBC that he went straight to a nearby health center, where doctors stitched him up without noticing the blade - and now he's considering filing a lawsuit.
He claims that medical officials did not recommend that he receive an X-ray, which has since come back to haunt him.
Mr McNeely told the network that in all that time, one of the stab wounds in his back never felt right, but any time he saw a doctor about it, he was told that the pain and burning he felt was due to nerve damage, even as a lump began to form.
Another warning sign came while McNeely was doing time in jail, and had to go through a metal detector.
