There was a lot of excitement at the Fresno Airport. Family, friends, supporters all there to welcome home a handful of soldiers.
Emily Schwartz waited for her boyfriend anxiously. He's been in Afghanistan for 10 months with the National Guard and he's never met his daughter.
Schwartz said, "I'm nervous and excited."
Her boyfriend, Amador Garcia showed up 10 minutes later. There were no words, just hugs and tears.
Garcia said, "it was hard...one of the hardest things I've ever done was not being there for her."
On the other side of the airport, Nancy Cabrera says she's a proud mom. Her only son, Eric is home after a long deployment. "We're just in debt to them, all the soldiers out there...my son is home but we're still waiting for the other ones to come home," she said.
Her son, Eric Cabrera says he's thankful and he's just happy to be home. "It's a pretty good feeling because you know you have people behind you, supporting you," Cabrera added.
Back inside, after holding his baby for the first time, Cabrera got down on one knee and proposed to Schwartz.
More tears and hugs followed but this time there were also a few words. "I'm just happy he's home," Schwartz said.
