Bad economic times are hitting our most vulnerable. Child poverty is at its worst in the Central Valley.

A new study shows Merced and Fresno Counties rank second and third respectively in the state. The poor child poverty rate has a number of contributing factors.

Unemployment in the valley is among the highest in the state. Hispanics disproporionately find themselves in poverty among other races.

Many hispanics lack english speaking skills. That in-turn impacts their education.

Lack of education means lack of good paying job. For many, if you can't provide a child with good building blocks for life, theirs will end up disadvantaged.
