School administrators wasted no time making plans for the additional resources Prop 30 will provide.
At Fresno State, it means the university avoids a $250 million budget cut in the middle of the year.
It also means students will now get back about $250 from a previous fee increase.
Annual tuition rates go back down to about $5,500.
And enrollment will go up by an extra 10,000-15,000 students.
Fresno State is still operating with $1 billion dollars less than a few years ago, but with Prop 30, University President Welty says it's about the long term benefits.
"It means that we can have some predictability in our funding for the next three or four years at least. And it means the we can now go ahead and try to make sure we've got sufficient courses available for students that are here."
At Fresno Unified, Superintendent Michael Hansen says the district can now provide over $17 million towards things like expanded learning, job preparation, and music programs.
Also at Fresno Unified, about $450,000 will support about 140 teachers for the national board certification process.
Governor Brown also spoke out about Prop 30 Wednesday, saying it puts the state in a position to have a balanced budget for the first time in 13 years.
