Parents and teachers in the east Clovis neighborhood are in shock over allegations of molestation at Freedom Elementary School.

Neng Yang is accused of molesting a second grade child. Yang now faces 18 counts.

There were 12 counselors on staff at Freedom Elementary Monday. On Sunday two meetings were held for teachers and parents of children in Yang's classroom.

"We want the community to understand how heartbreaking this is," said Clovis Unified representative, Kelly Avants.

KSEE24 met with Dr. Kenneth Ryan who is a criminologist teaching at Fresno State. He explains the frequency of these allegations in our school system is likely due to the increase in reporting.

Another meeting happened Monday night for parents of all students in the school.

Yang is now on administrative leave. Yang was a teacher at Freedom Elementary since 2007. He also taught at Fancher Creek Elementary.
