For many at Fresno Rescue Mission, an early Thanksgiving feast was more than just a meal. It was a moment of thanks, a moment of worship, and a moment of giving.
“It's really a time to celebrate, allowing a lot of the homeless and people that are in need to be able to come here and partake in a wonderful meal and to celebrate the Thanksgiving that we have,” said Fresno Rescue Mission CEO Reverend Larry Arce.
Turkey with all the trimmings was served by volunteers and enjoyed by about 1,000 people who are homeless or in need.
Rebecca Faurbo says it's been a while since she's been able to eat a hot meal. This was her first time celebrating Thanksgiving at the Fresno Rescue Mission.
“Thanksgiving is about counting the blessings we do have, and this is one of the biggest blessings that I can count. These are people who actually love me for me, homeless or not. To these people, it does not matter,” said Faurbo.
The Fresno Rescue Mission says its goal is to prepare men, women and children to move forward in a positive way.
