Special Needs Teacher Arrested For Sexual Relationship With Student

A special needs school teacher has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a former student.

Kelly McKenzy Watson met the 17-year-old boy while she was his teacher at the residential New Haven Youth and Family Services in Vista, Los Angeles, working with emotionally disturbed boys.

She was employed there from September 2010 to August 2011, before transferring to teach at Oceanside High School.

She has since been suspended from her teaching role in light of the sexual assault accusations.

While at Oceanside she began dating the boy, nctimes.com reported.

Sex Crimes detectives in San Diego were tipped off about possible inappropriate sexual conduct between Watson and the boy on July 30.

The 34-year-old she was arrested at around 11am on Thursday morning.

She was booked into Las Colinas Detention Facility where she remains in police custody, awaiting arraignment on Monday.

She faces charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.
