For the next two weeks, respected artist Patrick Dougherty and his crew will be using sticks for art.
“I had to figure out what birds already knew. Sticks have an infuriating tendency to tangle, so that's our simplest method of joining and that's what we're using in this piece here,” explained Dougherty.
You might recognize Dougherty's work. His woven structures are standing in different parts of the world. But right now, he's at Fresno State's Center for Creativity and the Arts building a one of a kind creation.
“The idea is that this wall would kind of move up the hill and give you some sense of geography, it's not the Great Wall of China, it's kind of the small wall,” said Dougherty. He added, “I think the work reminds people of being in the woods, taking a walk and going back in the garden and just being an animal for a while.”
Patrick Dougherty and his crew started the project last Monday. They hope to have it completed by November 29th. The project is expected to stay put for the next two years.
