Teenager Dies in Game of Russian Roulette

November 24, 2012 Updated Nov 24, 2012 at 11:48 AM PDT

A teenager fatally shot himself in the head while playing a game of Russian Roulette with friends according to police in what would be the third like death in the U.S. in months.

James Morris, 18, was among at least four others in his family's apartment in Brooklyn, New York when he allegedly pulled the trigger pointed toward his own skull early Friday morning.

Police said the teen's father was also inside the home when the gun went off but is believed to have been not aware of the deadly game that's ruled entirely by chance.

Those participants abruptly fled the scene of the shooting with one believed to have snatched the weapon used on their way out, the New York Daily News reports.

Only one of the witnesses has since been in contact with police as they work to speak with others.

An autopsy is now underway to confirm that Mr Morris did in fact die from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
