Three people were killed early Friday morning in a hit and run accident in Fresno County.
The California Highway Patrol said that eight farmworkers were heading to work this morning when the vehicle they were riding in collided with a big rig on Belmont Avenue, just west of Mendota.
The vehicle was apparently trying to avoid hitting the big rig as it was pulling out of a field. The big rig failed to stop after the accident and the CHP is now calling the incident a hit and run.
In addition to the three fatalities, one person suffered major injuries. The remaining 4 passengers were all treated for minor to moderate injuries.
