One of the two turkeys President Obama pardoned last year was euthanized Monday, said an official who maintained that the timing had no connection to Thanksgiving.
“Peace” came down with a mystery “illness” over the weekend and died after spending a year at Mount Vernon Estate, the historic home of George Washington, Rebecca Aloisi, the estate’s vice president for marketing, told CNN.
“I appreciate where you're going with this," Aloisi said. “But I assure you that these birds are extremely well cared for.”
