US Customs Agents Confuse Olympic Gold Medalist for Terrorist

After mistaking a two-time Olympic gold medalist for a possible terrorist, U.S. customs agents will not be winning any awards of their own.

Returning to spend Christmas with his family in Portland, Ore., famed runner Mo Farah, 29, was detained because of his Somali descent.

One of the most-recognized sports personalities in Great Britain — the country he moved to when he was boy, and won gold medals for in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters at this summer’s games in London — Farah pleaded his case to the border agents and even opened his suitcase and showed them the two medals.
