Millions paused to watch President Barack Obama take the oath of office for his second term. It was no exception for Obama supporters here in the valley, who organized their own celebration.
As our country's chosen leader took the oath for four more years, the Fresno County Democratic Party watched with pride.
"It makes me feel proud to be an American," says Deborah Foster
Corine Hatfield says, "I really honestly believe he cares about the people. I just trust him implicitly."
A tradition 57 years in the making, the President's Inauguration portrays the perfect symbol of democracy.
Doug Kessler says, "That's so important that your voice be heard and I think this one showed again that our voices are heard."
The memorable moment called for celebration, and President Obama's vision for what's to come drew applause.
"I'm excited. I think that he now will hopefully be able to do some of the things that he wasn't able to in the beginning."
"I love the part about everybody being created equal," says Hatfield.
Among the glory, emotions ran high. Witnessing Obama embark on his second term as commander in chief, brought tears of joy.
Hatfield says, "I do believe he's a once in a lifetime president and we'll never ever see this again."
What supporters hope to see moving forward, is four more years, that will trump the last.
"We feel really good and we feel like the best is yet to come," says Fresno County Democratic Party chair, Michael Evans.
