A Virginia man says he's outraged after the DMV forced him to swap a license plate referencing one devil for another.

Rick Sanders told a local news station that in a symbol of patriotism a few years after the 9/11 attacks, he personalized his license plates to read "FOSAMA."

The DMV this week sent Sanders a letter saying his plates were being taken away because they could be considered offensive.

One problem: the new plates assigned to him read "6668UP." Sanders said he reads the new plates to say “the devil ate you up.”

"I'm offended by this," he told the TV station. "I don't like anything with 666 on it."

He added that he's never heard any complaints about his plates referencing one of America's most hated enemies.

"People come up behind me, they're laughing, they're giving me the thumbs up," he told the TV station. "I've never had anybody look at me and tell me 'I can't believe you have that on your license plate.'"
